The Council of Fashion Designers of America needed a digital experience that could better represent its members, programs, awards, and advocacy work. The challenge was creating a flexible design system that could support an organization with many audiences while reinforcing the authority of the CFDA brand.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America needed a digital platform that reflected its role as the voice of American fashion while supporting an expanding ecosystem of designers, programs, awards, and initiatives. At COMBO, I led the overall creative direction, developing a system that balanced editorial sophistication with long-term scalability.
CFDA serves designers at every stage of their careers while connecting members, partners, media, and the public through a broad range of programs and events.
The challenge was creating a digital experience that could organize a complex body of content without sacrificing clarity, elegance, or flexibility.
I led the creative vision for the project, establishing a modular design system that unified typography, layout, navigation, and interaction across the platform.
The work focused on creating principles rather than pages, giving the organization a framework that could evolve as new content, initiatives, and member experiences were introduced.
Every decision was made to strengthen the institution’s voice while simplifying how people discovered and engaged with its work.
Institutional brands succeed through consistency rather than novelty.
Leading the creative direction for CFDA reinforced the value of building systems that support many contributors while maintaining a clear, recognizable point of view.
